Marzocchi Bomber 2004 question

Hi there,

I've been lent a pair of Marzocchi MX Comp (Bomber) forks, they are the 2004 model, travel is I think 80/85ish mm?

There are two air valves on the top of the stanchions, one on each side. Can anyone tell me whether these are for different purposes ... someone sort of suggested on a thread on another forum that one side controls the travel / damping, and the other side controls the rebound, and someone else also mentioned they might be an air assist fork.

I've tried playing aorund with putting air pressure on each side, but can only get them to have either relatively soft travel, or very hard; the rebound seems to be instant in each case. I probably need to pay around with them a bit more, but would prefer to do so with some guidance from someone who knows what they're talking about!!

Cheers guys

are they coil with air assis or are they air only forks? they came in both flavours.

Have done some further research, and these are what I think they are.

Had a quick look at the owners manual ... am not much the wiser!!

let all the air out of both legs and take the caps off.

or let the air out and what happens. air assist is coil with air preload and air is just air.

and nothing to do with rebound. that is adjustable will be on the bottom of the lowers or internally adjustable with a very long hex rod.

as you can see the coil looks just the same

Ah, right - let the air out of both legs, and the forks collapse, so I'm guessing they are air then??

If so, what do I need to be doing to both sides ... same amount of air in each, or what?

yep sameish dont get paranoid about getting exactly the same as if you have a guage that read 300psi it will be hard to be acurate.
