Cortisone injection

Bit of a random one!
Hopefully someone who has had an injection will be on this site!
I am getting a cortisone injection tonight in my ankle. Can anyone advise as to when I should be able to cycle again?
I'm kinda hoping (maybe naively) to go on a long hilly cycle on sat?!
Dream on or possible?!

One of the ladies in our club had one in her shoulder yesterday and was given the OK to ride the 25. They said as long as she didn't lift her shoulder above a 90 degree point she should have been OK.
Ask them when you are there, but I guess it depends on the movement of the joint.0 -
Had one in my shoulder also, I do a mix of gym and cycling and was told by the doc to be smart and dont over exert the injury, so carried on with my usual activities just cut back a little on the enthusiasm. The injection was fantastic but only lasted 6 weeks tops. Looking forward to my next injection.0

In plantar fasciitus (Google it) the injection is to the point of the injury, and it hurts. First the Doc has to get it in the right place without a scan, then the cortisone is injected, and as this takes up space where there isn't any, it hurts more/again. They last abt. 6 weeks. Can't see the point of all that hit-and-miss pain myself. Much better to remove the cause of the problem rather than treat the symptoms.
Of course in your ankle might be doddle, then rest your leg, then use it lightly after a few days, even avoid carrying the shopping. But Oh, a hilly on Sat? Why risk it, don't you want this long term problem to go away? Isn't it better to wait too long rather than too soon? The Wife complained for months about the empty pot of bike oil on the hall stand; so I replaced it with a full one.0 -
I understand what your saying, It was the doctor himself who suggested the cortizone injection after having had six months of physio with little or no effect. I am unable to have an MRI scan due to being claustrophobic. Any suggestions you have would be appreciated.0

Well I went for the cycle, after the doc(surgeon) said that was fine! Just not allowed to run! Suits me!!
The injection was to get rid of swelling in the joint, not for pain relief!!
It's been amazing, pain has gone! I now have no excuses left, just lack of ability!!0 -
Cortisone, when used correctly (i.e to reduce swelling) is a frigging miracle drug. Enjoy!0
