Hello all. I'm looking at a bike that has had the rear cassette changed to assist with hill climbing with a larger 1st ring at least. Looks unusual. Anyway when I try to go onto this ring at the rear using my large front ring the rear derallier flattens out making the chain too short. Is it just a case of buying a new chain or re fit the standard cassette ? Not sure what to do. Thanks

A Fairly obvious solution is dont use that gear combination.

I thought that but not sure with my very limited experience what the other sprockets will be like over standard

Its a gear you really shouldnt/dont need to be using.

Large ring at front to large ring at rear should be avoided, maybe even the three largest. The chainline is extreme, wears everything out quicker and your rear mech is going to struggle as well, as you have already noticed.
