Hi chaps, looking for a new wheelset for my Ragley Piglet, which gets used for everything you'd expect from a Piglet, from all day XC rides to hammering round a trail centre for a coupla hours. Have a strict budget of £200 and need a 20mm front wheel.

The two sets I'm thinking about at the mo are Superstar Evo hubs with Mavic XM719 rims

And the On-One Max

Anyone any comments on either? Or suggestions for something else I should be looking at? TIA

From the two? Superstars. Slightly, only slightly.

I have a pair of the On-One hubs. They're quite nice. I believe there is very little to chose from between them and the superstars, as far as quality goes. But On-One aren't stocking spares freehubs - however, a complete rear hub is £40, so maybe its not such a big deal... The hubs are made by Chosen Hub Co, so you could probably get spares for them I expect, but not quite as easily as you can for the superstars, who carry spare freehubs. The On-One rims are rebranded Alex rims, I think.

BTW, over budget a bit, but you know for £220 superstar are doing the switch hubs with stans rims?

    Thanks for the swift reply.

I'd seen that, but wasn't sure if the Stans were that much better than the Mavics? Also would have to decide whether to go for Crests or Flows. Crest would seem most suitable, but at 14 stone and not likely to go down, I wonder if they'd be up to the job.
