Second MASSIVE crash at the top of my road on the A3/East Hill in Wandsworth in just a few months. This time a 5 litre Merc CL has ploughed through the central pedestrian reservation, taken the railing, traffic light, sign posts, GPO box and a cyclist with it and ended up sideways on in the lanes for oncoming traffic. I couldn't see how it didn't kill at least 10 people. Policeman tells me cyclist is walking wounded and driver is likely to survive having been cut out of the car by LFB. No drink or drugs in his system. Everyone at a loss as to how this has happened. That cyclist must have had a shock, but thank goodness all OK.

at a loss as to how this has happened
Someone driving like a pr%ck would be my guess.

Could have been a blowout accompanied by a freak ice patch and the driver blacking out but.....

    Glad everyone is ok though.

Sounds nasty! Good thing you weren't around when it actually happened!

Yes, it would have been interesting. Article in my local newspaper on it just appeared. Presumably one of these fellas is the cyclist:

That's the road I live on. Cycled home just after this happened and wasn't allowed to cycle up East Hill. Someone got killed on a motorbike in the exact same place about 6 months ago.

yup...but the motorbike was different. Tragic as it was, the motorbike rider was high on drugs and doing a 60mph wheelie up the hill....not the wisest driving method.
