This is what I have narrowed it down too. Both bikes fit me well but they are at seperate LBS.

2011 Norco CRR 3 - $1400 (full carbon - 105 groupo)
or
2012 Cannondale CAAD8 - $1582 (Alum frame - 105 groupo)

Prices are with taxes in... i believe the better buy is the Norco for the Carbon frame alone... any ones thoughts?

I don't know the Norco brand so can't comment really.

I would say that the true test is for you to ride the bikes and see what feels best for you and fits. Don't neccesarily be tempted by the lure of a carbon frame. Not neccesarily lighter than alu frame bikes and many of the lower price end carbon frames are compromised between comfort and performance; flex and stiffness when on the power. So ultimately don't feel as responsive to ride.

The CAAD 8 is a great bike but tbh you need to test ride your shortlist to get a true feel of what is right for you.

Would you rather have a bottom of the range carbon frame, or top-end aluminium?

I love my CAAD8, but only you can say which is for you - test ride.
