Hi all, I'm new to the site and the world of biking!!
I am looking for a decent bike to start off on, and have had a good poke around and have come to find that the "mongoose salvo sport 2011" seems to be a good bike for a beginner and not being too pricey! Have any of you had any experience or dealing with these guys?
Cheers

at that price you would be better off on a hardtail0

Pop the spec up and you might get a few more replies. What kind of tracks you going on? Generally for that kind of money, folk would go for a hardtail depending on what terrain you're heading for.
Decathaon rockhoppers are a good entry bike.0 -

Well i really like the look of downhill but like i say I'm a complete novice, but would also just like to poodle through some forests and all a like, but if i did come a course that needed a but more or a rugged bike, id like to have the confidence in the bike. Ill have a look at the decathaon rockhoppers now!

thanks all have considered all of your advice!! and i have come across this bike, "Scott Voltage YZ 30 2012" for a good price, and with hard tail like you have all suggested!
Im going to get all my gear and bike from evans later this month and ill put a few pictures up.
Thanks again!!0 -
The Scott is a freeride bike.
Quite heavy, you won't get the seat to a suitable height & will be hard work. It's better suited to riding big jumps.
You won't find better than the Rockrider for the money.
Forget anything sold as a freeride or downhill bike unless you are spending £1500+Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350
