Hi all - new member - Hoping someone can advise me on the quality and suitability of this RX model for commuting, general fitness and such - will mostly be used on Road/Cycle paths - wanted something of good quality and fairly good speed and ability to climb hills without too much tax on the body! Any advice warmly welcomed - I'm very new to bikes of any decent quality, found online reviews hard to come by - thanks.

It's OK. Alivio kit (which makes up the bulk of the groupset) is pretty budget, Deore (rear mech) is pretty near the bottom of the "starting to get good" range of Shimano MTB groups. Carbon fork is a nice addition.
For "road/cycle paths" and "speed/ability to climb" I'd be looking at something more road like (albeit something that can take mudgaurds). eg.

I think you can get a lot better for your money.
You say commuting, but what sort of a commuter are you - fair weather, year-round, will you carry luggage or travel light?
If you'll only ride in Spring/Summer in dry weather then consider a bike like Godders has linked to.
If you ride year round, and with panniers, then I'd look for mudguards, wider tyres and rack mounts. Something like a tourer or cyclocross bike.0
