Hello Everyone,

first post so go easy on me..!!

Only had crappy mountain bikes in the past but want to buy my first road bike. need to cycle for rehab for a Op ive had recently, although not looking to spend a lot to start with, im hoping i will get into it joining friends on biking weekends etc

This might sound a silly question to some, so you must excuse my ignorance!!

For £200 I've been offered a Dawes Discovery 601 (2009) that has just had a service and has been well looked after.

OR/BUT

I quite like the look of a new Giant Rapid 4 (2011)!! which at some reputable online retailers is sold for £375

Don't know what one to go for...? advice please..

Out of interest, are you avoiding drop handlebars for some reason?

I guess that limits your choice somewhat. I'm not really sure whether these two are classified as road bikes or hybrids, but anyway, there's a review of the Dawes here in case you haven't already seen it.
