Pross I suggest you re-watch the Giro last year. Attacks from much farther out. Gradients not insane.

Also, Contador had enough company on the climbs to make it interesting.

In addition I am not sure why people get so upset and say it is boring when one rider can be so far above everyone. If you don't want to watch the pinnacle of athleticism for your chosen sport, I suggest you watch amateurs. If Bradley dropped everyone on the climbs and solo'd to win, I''m sure people would be losing their heads with excitement.

Alternatively you can have a race decided on who can TT better, who can not crash and few time differentials created in the top 3/5 from climbing prowess.

Each type of race will appeal to different people. Each of those views is fine as at the end of the day we are watching the sport for our personal enjoyment, not to have the same enjoyment factors as everyone else.

Last year's Giro was a damp squib, it just took the route to extremes where in the end they had to shorten stages to remove dangerous descents and it made the so-called 'dominance' of Sky in this year's Tour look more like LeMond v Fignon in '89. Yes, Bertie put in some good attacks and livened things up but as soon as he attacked it was a foregone conclusion. The 2010 Giro on the other hand was the best GT I had watched in 20 years. This year there wasn't much attacking, on paper the Stelvio stage should have been superb but it just became a war of attrition and I actually dozed off for a while as the riders slogged up the Stelvio. I'm not suggesting the riders weren't racing as they obviously were but when you get a route that is too tough you don't get the spectacular attacking bursts.

Yeah the 2010 was amazing - I think everyone agrees - that doesnt make any other Giro rubbish.

That Giro was great as there was a monster break, superb descending, Strade - wet, a mountain TT and some huge mountain stages.

Note that the stage was won based on performances in the mountains.
