Each will have their supporters and such discussions can be found on previous threads.
Both top end groupsets - individual preference as to hood shape and/or shifting mechanism.0 -

Assuming you mean mechanical D-A I prefer 7800 Dura Ace to anything else.
I wouldn't be tempted by the reduced 7900 ones around as the next generation one is about to be released and is alledgedly much better (well, they always say that don't they, and it wasn't true last time so we'll see!). Like saddles it's quite personal though isn't it so only you can judge really0 -
I've got DA 7800 on one bike and SRAM Rival on the other. Both work pretty much faultlessly but I must confess I prefer the really positive (rear) shifting of the SRAM and, IMHO, the double tap is great. If it was my decision I would go for the Red. Actually, when it was my decision, I went for the Rival and bought Fulcrum 1 wheels with the money I saved :P
OTOH, there's a very strong argument that the Dura Ace crankset is the best out of the major groupsets.
As foggymike says, it's a case of each to his own and testing is the only way to be sure.0 -
Wouldn't the Dura-Ace crankset be fully compatible with the SRAM mechs? A "best of both worlds" solution?0
-
If they're both 10 speed then of course.
As for "best of both worlds" I don't think many people could tell the difference between high end chainsets, probably wouldn't even know which was which unless they looked down.
Saying that, when I was running Red on my main bike, I ran it with a Fulcrum RRS chainset (the equivalent to Super Record), but mainly cos I got such a deal on it, £200 new boxed.0 -
The chainset does not even have to be 10 speed to work with a 10 speed set up.Yellow is the new Black.0

i use sram red, i prefer srams shifting mechanism.
However i wouldnt buy it again, the shifting is super smooth and it's excellent, light kit but imo not worth almost double the price of sram force. If i had 1k to spend on a groupset again, i'd go ultegra di20 -

Had all three honestly campy record is the best ,strongest , found dura ace gear changes made wrist hurt ( i Am old) and could not live with sram red front changing , hopefully they have sorted this as the changes up and down on the back are slick. campy ,solid changes and multi cog sweeps ,lovely and classylast month wilier gt -this month ? bh rc10 -

I've used SRAM Red, Campag Record/Super Record and Dura-Ace.
I don't get on with the SRAM shifters, it's close between Record and DA but I find DA is slicker, quicker shifting and I prefer the levers, but both are fantastic.
Ride them and choose the lever set-up you prefer.
I must say though, DA 7900 front shifting is by far the best I have ever used. Noticeabley better than Campag.0 -
I use Sram Force, prefer riding on these hoods. More comfertable than shimano or campag in my opinion, although not as slick as shimano.0
