...Like any pro in the modern or past peloton, as in riding style, the look, the role, personality, who would it be and why?

PS. Yes I'm bored.

    Laurent Jalabert.

The man could do everything. Mountains jerseys wins, points jersey wins, World Championship win. He rode at a time when we were so naive we didn't doubt the achievements of our champions. His French Champions jersey was the coolest in the peleton and best of all... Thanks to TV2 as Laurent Jalabert you'd get to ride every TdF after retirement from the comfort of the pillion seat on motorbike 4 and give your analysis of the race.

Merckx is the obvious pick, but personally i'd say Fignon. A stylish and attacking winner of both GTs and classics, though hopefully i'd avoid the injuries that plagued the middle part of his career.

I'd want to win a jersey in the Tour. Not yellow, white or polka dot, cos then I'd have to take my skinny physique to the beach with me, so it's going to have to be the green jersey. Probably one from the modern era, maybe Thor Hushovd.

Whichever GC winner had the hottest wife. I'd be him.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

    Coppi or devlaeminck

coppi cos he made it seem effortless

devlaeminck cos he made it seem fun.

    Andy Schleck.

    Seems a good life.

Less pain and effort than all the others.

    Ditch the brother though.
  • Nibali probably. On a good day, thrilling to watch. (Him, not me, obviously).

I'd like to be Victoria Pendleton...

Oops, maybe I shouldn't have said that!

From the modern peloton in terms of riding style for me it's Andreas Klöden and for stylishness it is Danilo Di Luca.

No-one looks smoother and more at one with his machine than Klödi.

Whereas the Assassin always looks cool as f***. Especially that year he was ProTour leader all year in the white jersey.

Gilbert Duclos-Lassaille. A true cobbles hardman cos there's no way I'd make a climber with my physique.

 but all the abuse you'd have to take from this forum

Personally, I think it would be Cancellara. I'd love to have the power to ride away from the peleton 1K away from the line and make it stick (even if it only works very occasionally!!)

Sagan, just so I could pull no handed wheelies (I'd use someone else's descending technique though as I wouldn't want to risk the damage he does!! )

Jan Ullrich. I love food too much to be anyone else.

Or, the young, care-free, drug addled Vino.

Millar and O'Grady seem to have more fun than most...

But mainly Gibo, that shoulder rolling out of the saddle style, the tantrums, the two Giro wins, two wins on the Zoncalon... legend.

    Miguel.

    PS. Yes I'm bored.

Here you are, LeicesterLad...I'm sure you'll have already seen it, but watch one of the greatest riders in a State of Grace.

People who call him boring know nothing of cycling.
At 7:18, if you put your ear to the screen, you can actually hear the 'twang' of Pavel Tonkov's body and soul snapping.

Unfortunately i'm back at work after a week off (which really sucks) and Youtube is restricted :( Will have to wait until i get home to hear the crisp sound of a body snapping.

That's probably my favourite old cycling clip ever. What would it be like to grind a bike gear uphill for so long and just ride everyone else off your wheel?

Despite that, I'd have to be Cipo if the Cycling Gods offered me a free choice. More charisma in one of his fingernails than in the entire peloton (Sagan excepted) at the moment. It would be greater to be that fast, but even great to carry off hair like his without looking like a pr*t. :D

    Konyshev, Jalabert or Kelly.
You might have had a response from a pro cyclist on Twitter, you may even have chatted to a 'journo', but ultimately, you still know nothing. You're not an insider, no matter how much you wish you are.

Old? Bloody hell. I was watching the 95 TdF yesterday and I know his critics are quite vocal, but I was/am a big fan of Indurain.

17 years ago. Time waits for no man. Sagan had probably just started at school back then, so it must be an old clip!

I'm a big fan of Mig as well. Just a bigger one of Cipo. :D

Fignon or Pantani but without the short lived life, just give me a happy retirement
