Hi all

I'm trying to select a personal injury claims solicitor to represent me after being knocked off my bike (car pulled out in front of me; surgery to pin a broken collarbone back together).

Has anyone got any recommendations/warnings against companies who offer these services based on personal experience? I've seen some cycle specific claims specialist; what are peoples opinions on these vs. the mainstream personal injury claims guys (they type who advertise on television etc.)

Hope you can help

Many thanks

James

  • If you're going 'No Win, No fee' then read up about the way it works - Citizens Advice have very good info on this.

You may find your household insurance policy provides legal cover for this without going the NWNF route - mine does.

Be prepared to do some of your own legwork - the legal profession is there to make themselves money and getting you a payout comes second. Remember this.

I absolutely would not go with any company that calls you or solicits their services on the TV. IME I'd call all the local solicitors and go with one who talks to you nicely on the phone and possibly offers to meet you personally to discuss the case. But maybe I'm old fashioned?

Go local with a decent sized firm. They should have someone with relevant knowledge and experience and a local reputation to maintain. These national firms which advertise during Jeremy Kyle won't give a toss.

Alison France based in liverpool sorted me out on a no win no fee basis. I think it's Bikeline.

My mrs, has her own firm, she also rides & races, she was one of the team that set up the original personal injury company that started it all off in this country - Claims Direct.

I would be wary of 'large' firms, your case could be farmed out to what they call panel solicitors and you may not get the personal attention that you feel you deserve...

Her company is RPM legal, you can email her at v.perkins@rpmlegal.co.uk, her name is Vincenza, have a chat with her she is very good at what she does...
A berm? were you expecting one?

  • Thanks all. On the advice Frank the Tank I checked Bikeline out, gave them a call and have decided to go with them. Thanks again everyone.
