Hi im having a few probs with one of my brakes thats driving me potty !
Basically ive got shimano deore BLM505 brakes and the left hand rear brake lever keeps fading after 10 mins of use.

Ive tried bleeding it and fitting new pads and it works great for 10 minutes then gradually the lever moves in until the only way to break is to move my fingers out the way as the lever ends up nearly hitting the grips.

One of my mates suggested its the seals in the lever piston that are going but i dont want to fork out for a new lever if it can be fixed etc

cheers for the advice lee

If the lever is moving in then there are 2 possible causes.
    Air in the system
    Or a leak.

Ps this is not fading. Brake fade the lever feels the same but the brakes just do not work.

Cheers ive had it checked in the local lbs after i played with them and they where basically baffled after re bleeding them, and i cant find any leaks.
They have been well used and battered though so i may just bite the bullet and get a deore set off crc for 100 for front and back.

  • Or get a second hand pair which are both much better and slightly cheaper.

The deore brakes are a decent purchase you can't go too far wrong with them.
Very funny Scotty, now beam me down my clothes.
