  • Holy Jesus, thats one helluva first bike!

I sincerely hope you will not be leaving that anywhere that requires security. It will be gone in 10 seconds!

However if you insist on locking it up outside Asda ;) then you need Sold Secure rated Locks. Two preferably of different make. A good Strong U lock like the Kryptonite New York Range and a wire or chain lock. Ideally the U lock should be gold or platinum rated and the Wire or chain at least silver.

Waterbottle and cage or perhaps a camelback and what CD says.
  • i will be leaving it at work outside pubs etc not city center leeds :) i just dont want i nicked if i can help it

i have a pump ordered a multi tool as well
  • i maybe got a bit carried away with the bike but im what the wife calls a maxi-miser i must have the best that i possibly can and research it to the nth degree

the pump is only a little one topeak master blaster pocket rocket the multi tool is a Axiom Tuck 16 it looked funky :)

I really hope you will never use it as a pub bike! Ill give it a week before its either nicked or kicked to sh*t! The components have "steal me " written all over them.
  • i mean out for a ride stop off for a coke pub visit not going into town

You need a shock pump, and get a track pump. Indispensible.

Only if you have insurance as they'll insist you have this category of stuff.

None of that will stop the bike getting nicked if they want and with the right tools takes them just a minute. The wire and chain locks take seconds even with cheap tools that fit in their pockets, doesn't matter if they're silver, gold, etc. They're just insurance ratings.

If you're going to only ride it on trails, forget about locks outdoors, just always be in contact or at least sight of the bike at all times. A ride stop at the pub near the trail is fine, just keep it in sight.

Other key thing is how you secure it at home. Ideal is in the house. A shed or garage you can only do the best you can, and make sure you have good insurance.

Indeed. However, i think it sets a decent standard to adhere to though if , out of necessity, you do need to leave it locked somewhere?
  • ah yes spd shoes ! any recommendations dont want to spend huge amounts 50-70 or so

it will be kept in the garage will look into bolting it to something and getting the garage added to the house alarm.

need to sort house insurance i suppose but is there any decent bike specific insurance ?

I like the specialised range of shoes - have some Tahoes but shimano shoes are sturdy too. Mavic if you had a bigger budget and an urge to wear yellow disco slippers!

Or better still swap the pedals for Wellgo MG1's.

i wouldn't even be doing that, unless there's two of you, one to get the drinks and one to stay with the bike, it isn't only in leeds city centre you need to be careful

As the mrs just says do what you thinks best !!

so i need the opinion of faceless people on the net as i cant do anything without their say so ! ;)

the white looks bit too ipody but im buying it to ride and not pose on it looks meaner in black and less like hotpoints finest :)
  • The black will show the dust more in the garage this time next year, so id go with the white!
  • ah but i just hoovered the garage out ;)

If you have plenty money, get the black. If you have plenty brains get the white and take your wife for a dirty weekend in Rhyl.
Or leave her at home, Sheepsteeths mum lives there.
