Hi
I'm looking to replace the tapered headset and fork on my Core 50, any suggestions? The fork I'm looking for is a good upgrade to the coil 120mm Recon Gold that I've got preferably with a remote lockout, the headset can be whatever you think is suitable.
Cheers

The Recon Gold is a very good fork - why are you wanting to change it?0

Nothing out there is going to be any plusher, but you can get a bit lighter. What exact model is it ie a 15mm bolt through? Coil? As for the headset, as above: adjust it (or replace bearings if shot), no need to replace the whole thing.0

It's a 20mm Maxle axle. The headset is as tight as it can be but it's still got some lateral play.Eddy Merckx EMX-3

I'd get someone to take a look at the headset to rule a few things out. What budget do you have for the fork?0

If the headset was as tight as it could be you wouldn't be able to move the bars. Are you sure you're doing it right, loosen stem bolts, then do up top cap, then tighten stem bolts.I don't do smileys.

Fork budget is <£500, the Recon is a coil, want to swap to air so I can tune it a bit. Might swap to Maxle lite if it makes the choice easier although I'd probably need a new front hub and a wheel build.Eddy Merckx EMX-3

Its QR but can be adjusted to 120mm. Great value and on budget

I'd simply upgrade the coil spring to solo air. The Recon uses the 2011 Reba casting anyway.0

Contact TF Tuned, they have a few options for this fork, including dampers too.0
