Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice regarding tyre choice for a 700c tyre fitted on a hybrid bike.
This is the bike I am using: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/spe ... 5#features as a hybrid bike I know it is far from ideal for out and out mountain biking. However, after visiting the Forest of Dean and Bedgebury trials lately I have got the bug! I am not in a position to buy a new MTB for a little while yet so I'm looking to get a set of tyres which make the best of a bad situation! The problem is all 700c tyres seem ill fit for the job!
At the moment I have these for when I go off-roading http://www.conti-tyres.co.uk/conticycle ... ter2.shtml but I still find myself slipping in the mud sometimes.
I'm looking for something wider (45mm maybe) and more 'dobbly' suited to wet ground / mud - but I'm stuggling to find anything!
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Steve

29" tyres are 700cI don't do smileys.

I was told that although they are the same diameter the width of the tyre is too large for the 700c rims (they are quite narrow) is this not right?0
-
Depends on the width of the rim.0

Schwalbe do a whole pile of 29ers the Nobby Nic and Racing Ralph to name two."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

My Rim is: RHD Double wall 622x17 (6061-T6) 29

I hope this helps,

Anything up to about 2.2 inch will fit fine.0

Thanks, do you think I should stick to 2.0 just to be safe?
So what is the difference between a 700c wheel and a 29er ? just that 29ers are normally wider?0 -
There is no difference, they are both 622mm in diameter - widths can be anything!0
