The Shack problems

Who were the riders who complained to the UCI about non-payment?

Cancellera and the Schlecks and Fugslang.

There has been an audit going on and things aren't looking rosey. Becca will likely lose his licence.

Leopard also claim Rupert Murdoch is waging war against them via the press.

    Today

Team owe Fuglsang €150K and Shlecks €500K

Sounds like Becca might be the guy who pranked Feretti those years ago

Hopefully this will be the last year we see this squad. The company has been performing very badly for some while financially.

I think the problem here is with Flavio Becca more than anything.

Christ, no wonder the Schlecks weren't motivated.

Half a mill out of pocket?

    Sheesh.

Luxembourg newspaper Tageblatt, which said that the Leopard SA company had made a loss of €7,618,109.60 loss in the first half of this fiscal year

What is the Leopard SA company? Weren't we all talking about this when Leopard first formed?

Radioshack Nissan and Trek pay their money to the licence holder (Becca). They dont directly pay the riders.

I would guess Leopard SA is just the vehicle Becca is using to run the team under (ie, the business). So the riders would hold a contract with Leopard SA and that's who pays them etc etc.

Got it. So we are to assume that RadioShack have paid what they committed to.

Hmm, who is going to bankroll the Schlecks if Becca won't/can't..?

That does seem a little far fetched. I thought it was Murdoch Jr who was the one with the big interest in cycling, anyway?

Financial probs aside, it strikes me that trying to merge Team Ley-o-pard and Radioshack was always going to be like saddling a cow, not least because of Bruyneel's interesting approach to man management.

    Sadly not.
