As the title suggests really. I ride a titanium road bike as I thought this was a better material than carbon. Now looking at a fs xc bike
but apart from the slight weight saving can't see the benefits of a cf frame when you have full suspension and massive tyres as I thought the big thing was that cf cut vibration?

Any comments gratefully

You don't *need* any specific material. All just personal preference. Can't say what you'd like as really it's just down to trying them out and seeing what you like.

I still like a steel HT!

You don't need a bike full stop.

There is no 'best' material. I'd choose carbon over ti every time for a road bike, depends what you want.

Carbon frames will, in general (and I mean general, there are exceptions) be lighter, stronger and stiffer than alu equivalents. If you're not fussed by that get alu, but the lightest FS bikes will virtually all be carbon.
