I'm giving up on summer tyres. I fitted a set of Maxxis Advantage & hoped for the best
I have had a look and mud tyres look very expensive and narrow. Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced pair and point me as a good deal?

I found the WTB Velociraptor very good; they are different front and rear.
Cr4p on the road or hard surfaces, but on soft ground, absolutely fantastic.0 -
On-one have Geax Datura for £13 each http://www.on-one.co.uk/i/q/TYGXDTTT-26 ... k___22inch
I am trying one of those up front with a 1.8 Mud-x at the back for £22 http://www.ride-bikes.com/products.php?mode=search
I too have given up - tried surrey hills with the nevegals last week and the clogged with mud constantly, were draggy and no grip in the gloop...
I would guess that the Geax tyres would be OK front and rear if you want something really cheap.0 -
Oh and the reason they are narrow is supposedly to cut through the mud rather than float across the surface.
I think its a bit of a juggling act (in more ways that one) to find the width that works best for you though.0
