I have just purchased a Ribble Stealth with a BB30.
Little did i know the trouble involved...
Along with the frame i also ordered from them aBB30 Sram s550 chainset which when it arrived was a GXP bb. Ribble said they have never stocked a Sram BB30 chainset but it was deffinatly on there site when i placed my order!
So now i have to the chainset... I have now bought a Sram Force chainset and Sram BB30 from the very helpful High on Bikes. Today however i got a phone call from my LBS (Rayments Cycles in Brighton) who are installing the BB/Cranks and cables and such to say i dont have the right BB.
Turns out that BB30 isnt a standard at all. There are several versions. I have a BB30 68x42 shell in the frame and bought a BB30 68x46. However Ribble dont sell a Sram BB30 at all only a 68X42 campag one that, guess what... Doesnt work with Sram Force BB30 cranks!
Amazingly High on Bikes managed to find a Sram BB30 68x42 and have posted out to my LBS to fit. Amazing service from them both. Not so impressed with Ribble though... Hopefully the frame itself will make up for the problems...
Anyone else had this trouble? It was bad enough with Englich and Italian threads but now there are so many incompatible BB systems its very confusing, frustrating and frankly stupid!

there is BB30 and Press Fit (PF) BB30.
should have got a conversion BB and used the GXP cranks."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I have a De Rosa R838 - which without getting into arguments about carbon is supposed to be the same frame.
It should just take standard BB30 bearings like these (please note this is not press fit)

These work fine with the Sram red / Force BB30 chainset.0 -

So as i said there is BB30 Press Fit 68x46, Normal BB30 68X42, then there is Campags own version which doesnt work with SRAM cranks. All the bike shops ive spoken to are finding it very confusing. Then there is Shimanos standard, and Treks...
Whats the point in buying a BB30 frame then converting back to GXP? May as well buy a different frame...
Im just relating minefield of different bottom bracket setups.
Luckily High on Bikes sent me out a normal BB30 68X42 but these are in very short supply and SRAM dont even have them on there website!0
