Hello there, I'm about 6'2" - 6'3" and weigh roughly 130lbs, now I'm wondering what cycle clothing makes are good for people who are tall and thin? It seems extremely hard for me to get clothing that actually fits and isn't either too baggy or too short. I'm looking for a long sleeve or short sleeve jersey at the moment, I don't mind paying a fair amount for it but I definitely don't want to be spending over 100pounds. Any suggestions?

ps. I bought a Sportful jersey that fit me decently well however it was way to short in length, basically came up to my belly button.

That can't be right. Aren't you a bit too thin?

Wiggins is 6'3" and he is 150 lb and he is on the absolute limit on what it is healthy.

Yes, I'm extremely thin, but I still eat a lot. I have no idea why my weight is so low, I don't look that extremely thin.

Not sure on the exact weight, but I'm hovering around 125-135.

Forget the clothes issue I would be more concerned that your height contunually fluctuates by an inch, do you go from hot to cold a lot? :-)

Heh, I wasn't sure on my exact height, the last time I checked I was 6'2" but I think I've grown an inch since then.

+1. I'm a pretty similar height and weight, and would be interested to know if anyone has go any recommendations. Find it slightly strange that the first response would just accuse someone of being 'too thin' (rather than actually attempting to answer OP's question). Would you instantly brand a bigger guy as 'too fat'?

I don't mind, it is an extremely low weight for my height so I'm used to it. At the moment I'm looking at Castelli and wondering how well they'll fit ( http://www.wiggle.co.uk/castelli-prolog ... ve-jersey/ )

I am quite tall myself ( 6' 4.5" ) and not fat (around 200 lbs) Wiggo who has been said is on the verge of what it is
healthy and he is around 150 lbs. If you look at the chart below you can see he is just on the limit of a healthy weight for his height.

Personally I would use the money to go to a nutritionist.

As a general guideline Gore, Santini and Craft are good for tall people.

  • The thing is, there's many types of bodies so there isn't a certain 'healthy weight' . Thanks for the suggestions though, I'll look at those makes

I'd also add Giordana to the list. My thighs have grown enough now that my bibs are rather snug and I'm still only 150lbs at 5'11".

I'm similar-ish to Wiggins' height/weight (towards the left end of the 'healthy weight' band) - all in the genes (tall, skinny parents). I've found Gore clothing to be quite long fitting (long sleeves!), so it's my go-to brand.

But the only bibs I've found to give a really good fit have been some Decathlon ones from a couple of years back. TBH, I think the factory got their measurements wrong on a batch, as on a 'normal' build they'd be much too long and maybe tight on the leg, but fitted me a treat so loaded up. They seemed to sit around in the shop for months on end as they obviously didn't fit anyone else! Unfortunately, later stock reverted to normal dimensions so for my next sets I might try and get some made to order by someone - save wasting time trying on endless pairs that don't fit...

Impsport and Lusso (who are just around the corner from the OP in Bury) have been mentioned in the past as possible options for custom made stuff.
  • Ordered some Castelli in large, it seems like the length is good but it's also fairly baggy. At the moment I'm using a sportful jersey that's good fit but too short.

Why not email Lusso (or go see them in Radcliffe) and see if they'll knock out some slim sized / longer fitting stuff? Nothing to lose...

Castelli is crap, only for middle-age men with a belly.

Figured the cost for custom made would be quite high?

FWIW Sportful own Castelli, so don't expect much difference in sizing and cut. But it from Italy and it's very reasonably priced.

Gore and Craft are more sized for the Northern European i.e. taller riders IME.

I'm middle aged and do wear Castelli, but I don't have a belly and enjoy nothing more that tearing past fat-feckers in their over-priced Assos and Rapha kit ;-) Anybody with a gut simply doesn't look good in tight-fitting anything IMO, regardless of brand. - look at MTB riders for example... ;-) ;-)
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

    :D well said Monty Dog.

As above stick to Craft and Gore.

  • Guess I'll try Craft and Gore, now to find some decently priced Craft & Gore clothing.

From the Italian brands - Santini is the best as well.

Avoid MOA / Nalini at all costs though.

I asked a similar question here a couple of months back, I'm skinny with a long torso. Craft jerseys were advised and I found them to be spot on.

Andrew, to be fair, you've figured that without actually asking them though!

    Look:-
    http://www.bikebiz.com/news/read/lusso- ... ess/013197
"We already offer customised garments, but we don't do anything printed anymore as we are fully tied up with the retail trade with production. We do get regular calls from dealers saying they have a customer who isn't your typical tour rider and can we make some shorts with a more relaxed waist, longer shorter legs etc."

A 2 min phone call to them will give you the answer to your question. Or, it looks like you're about 5 mins away from their factory if you want to go see them instead.

Alternatively, keep ordering stuff via mail order that doesn't fit properly...
  • Hello, sorry to revive an older thread, but I'm even taller (6'8) and have a slim build (13st give or take). I wondered if anyone has found anything in the intervening months for lanky gits like me? Temperatures have plummeted of late and if I dont find something longer clothing pronto I'll be cycling in jeans – not ideal. I have a jersey from Tørm that's just (and I mean just) long enough but I'm after other decent jerseys, bib tights etc.
