Hi,

I'm looking to convert my wheelsets to Tubeless and what to standardise as opposed to have multiple manufacturers and methods.

Wheelsets to convert;
Bontrager Rythym Comp x2
DT Swiss 5.1 and xr400
DT Swiss 445D

All advice/experiences welcomed.

regards

  • apparantly the Hope tubeless kit is much the same as the Stans just £20 cheaper!!
    some find ghetto works well for them, some use a couple of layers of Duck/gorilla tape works well, others will only use Stans!!
    i cant comment on coverting as mine are tubeless ready rims, but cheapest would be ghetto, - 3x 20"bmx tubes and some sealant, most expensive would be Stans at £45 a set,
    Timmo.

    I don't like the duck tape approach - all fine if the rim & tyre are tubeless ready, otherwise... asking for trouble IMO

    Nothing but good experience with ghetto method here.

    What tyres are going on which wheels?

    And can be dangerous.

    Tubeless ready stuff at least has some guarantee the bead will seal to the rim.

    None such with normal tyres & rims... a loose tyre can and will simply blow off the rim. For this, a rubber rim strip (ghetto or various conversion kits) method provides something (ie the rim strip) for the bead to seal to.
