Is this Good Carrera or Halfords Carrera?

Says "made in Germany" on the frame and not a lot else. Fairly boring lugs and Weinmann brakes.

A rusty old frame that weighs about 8lbs?! I'd take a modern Kraken lol.

I suspect your Carrera is between the Marco Pantani era and mass production era or a cheap model. After all the lugs are a bit dull and the dropouts look cheap - cheap fittings. Still, it will make a nice bike.

The original Carrera's have the USA college block lettering in general and are Columbus steel with Campag dropouts, even the cheap Mondiale model has these features.

Cool. Thanks GTV. In that case I shall be de-bossing, blasting, painting and fixing the wee fella without guilt.

Don't blame me if it is a quality item though......I suspect the mudguard braze ons are giving away it's racing pedigree.

Can't remember the font name for the 'collegiate' writing.....

Just had a look at some pics of a vintage Carrera Podium (Columbus tubing et al) and it has plain lugs, but vertical dropouts at the rear. Also, your frame doesn't appear to have a hanger on the RH dropout - another indication of cheapness.

EDIT: I also read that Italina Carrera frames were actually rebadged Battaglin frames - a result of Carrera Jeans sponsoring a couple of racing teams.
