    Are you a Beefeater?

Do you sell union jack hats from a stall just outside tower bridge? Just asking ...
  • Beware anyone thinking about rooting for Cadel - he's a wheelsucker and he quite possibly has OCD or Asperger's - I read it on this forum ;-)

Nonsense aside, I was really pleased to see him win last year and, if Wiggins or Froome don't win, will be perfectly happy to see him win again. Focussing on what he actually does on the bike, he's a true sportsman and competitor, with a never-say-die attitude. I also quite like his endearingly frank and unpolished interview style.

hehe. try being a Brit supporting Wiggins in Australia - all I get are seething glances and accusations that Wiggins 'is on drugs, he must be, right?'

Worst bit is I can't gloat cos he'll only go and crash out the next day if I do...

Really? when the question came up if Wiggins was doped or not on one of the Aussie Forums it was almost unanimous shouting down of any bad word. Surely your talking about the general public that have no clue and think there all at it. Not saying that anyone wants him to win :D
Take care of the luxuries and the necessites will take care of themselves.

Why are these reasons to beware thinking about rooting for Cadel?

Evans has always been a wheel sucker, it's just that this year he can't even manage that. Earlier in this tour the forum were saying "oh look at him attack" when he tried to get 3 seconds on the main group in the earlier flatter stages at the most inappropriate moment in the race, flattering to deceive. The guy is tactically inept.

I simply don't understand the love for Evans on this forum, he's a dullard. But then this forum was pretty much in love with Armstrong a few years ago and that guy was everything that cycling is not, or at least was not "in the good old days". Last year Evans was the 2nd poorest tour winner I can remember and I've been following the sport for 40 years (who he hell was Oscar Pereiro anyways?) Sometimes I think some posters here have limited history of involvement with or appreciation of the sport's heritage and culture, if they stumbled across and Hinault or a Van Impe, they wouldn't know what hit them.

Evans is a testament to the results you can achieve when hard work, perseverance and relentless dedication and playing the percentage game overcome a lack of basic raw talent and flair. A cyclist for the x-factor age. If Merckx is David Bowie, John Lennon and Prince all rolled into one, Cadel Evans is Will Young or maybe even Gareth Gates.

It seems that for all your self-proclaimed expertise, you have sod all appreciation of the underlying theme of last two decades of cycling.

He must be mad about it though because he's been a member since before Rick Chasey was even born and he's only made a handful of posts. Cadel must really get under hid skin. Maybe he's right.

Wisdom does not come with age, nor class for that matter.
