Love it! Just upgraded the bars and stem to Easton Havens and swapped the grips for Superstar excels plus a Madison Flux seat. The only other tweak is the Bionicon C guide. Very happy camper!

  • Looks good. I bet you can't keep it that colour for long though

also watch out for cable rub on the inside of the non drive side chainstay from the brake cable, I don't know why specialized insist on routing cables like they do, but its very annoying!

I wish I'd read your comment about 2 weeks ago because I've just fond some in the exact place you've described! Bugger!

  • Yeah the same thing happened to my pitch frame. Also check the underside of the downtube where it joins the headtube, and the bottom bracket shell. It's very stupid cable routing really. Every time a rock would hit my downtube I'd worry about busting the brake hose or something.

Cheers dude, this was a recent Derbyshire ride but the camera is a bit crap. I'll have to get some proper action photos! :D

Nice ride, another thing to watch for is the rim tape, got caught out with a puncture yesterday and when I checked the tube noticed the rim tape hadn't been done properly. Managed to get home and then had to get some new rim tape, the blue plastic they use is awful.

I wouldn't worry about that I've smacked mine in loads and not even a tear, good ole jagwire outers.

Agreed the cable routing is interesting, I've suffered from the chainstay non drive and underneath the bottom bracket cable rub.

Doesn't take away the fact that the bike is spot on to ride, I do like the paint scheme of the white n black on the elite.

The more i ride it the more i'm loving it and going to 2x10 is a breeze, my old 06 stumpy was awesome but i'm loving this even more, it feels a lot more purposeful
Are either of you two running the Roval wheels? if so are either of you experiencing a slackness to the pickup in the free hub? I don't know what system of ratchet, pawls hoojimaflips and fluflu valves they use but are they something to do with DT Swiss?
I'm wondering if it is then it might be to do with this bit of info that i got of the tinterweb
DT Swiss have been using their patented Star Ratchet system for years and although it doesn’t offer the fastest engagement it’s a very reliable system which is also incredibly easy to maintain. The design’s greatest strength is its ability to cope with very high load. The reason for this is that you always have 18 points of engagement, that’s like having 18 pawls!

I need to post some more pictures to prove that i don't just sit on it in my back garden or use it for riding down curbs!

No I dont use Roval wheels, got hope hubs on mine and before that it was the DT swiss rims and Shimano hubs.

not all rovals are dt swiss, if yours is, then you can upgrade to the 36t ratchet to halve the engagement. about £40 IIRC

Cheers mate, it looks better in the flesh than iphone photos ever seem to make it look.

Stickers (a bit poncey i know but i love it) are from http://www.flandriabikes.com

    £8.00 for 4

My mate is sold on them two, he hasn't ordered them yet though because he's "thinking of something a bit more sweary" to have on his frame so god knows what he'll come up with!

  • Looking to get some Superstar floating rotors but i can't decide between black or white spiders?

Its the PvP debate (Ponce v Purpose)

Do you reckon whites a bit too much?

  • Great looking bike.

The flux is a decent saddle, a bit like the Charge Spoon but just a tad more forgiving (my dad has one on his KHS).

I am a right Spesh fan so am well impressed by your bike.

Cheers Super Dee, to be honest, I wasn't sure about the bike for initially for some reason maybe something to do with me normally liking more stealthy looking black bikes (you can see it ain't exactly stealthy!) but the more i ride it and look at the spec of it the more i realise how good and capable it is. i've just gone down to a 70mm stem seemed to have just got the cockpit properly set up nicely.
I bought it for £1600 from a bloke who'd got it on the bike to work scheme and then got bored. I think it was a reasonable price although i've probably spent another £400 on bits and bobs for it including a new dropper post (awesome) so i've still managed to blow a couple of grand in total which really wasn't the plan!

In fairness, its probably more bike than i can ever out ride so i just need to enjoy it now :D

  • I know what you mean, my Camber Expert is red and white and not the colour scheme I'd have chosen (I liked the black and green Elite tbh) but the price was way to good to ignore!

I am thinking of getting a Spesh Command post actually as I am finding it hard to think of stuff to do as the Camber suits my riding so well. BUT, I have haven't ever left an MTB stock since my first one back in '86!

I love the stickers btw, I had some done for my road bike too.

BTW, you aren't the only overbiked person out there so don't worry!
  • Just some updated photos with the KS dropper post, Carbon rock guard and a bit of mudguard prototypage! :D

Still can't help thinking it'd look nicer in black though..which is a problem and also thinking of changing the Haven bars to some Renthal Fatbar Lites, any info??
It'll probably stay as it is for the time being (spent too much cash over Chrimbo!) but its ready for our little Welsh jolly at the end of the month, Friday Llandegla then over night stay and hitting CyB on the Saturday morning then back all in time to wake up in my own bed on Sunday morning. Can't be bad eh?
