Interesting how I've browsed these on the fatbirds site and they've looked good but nothing extraordinary from the marketing shots they have but your own personal photos make it look so much better! It looks like a bike I would want to own from your photos. How does it ride?

verylonglegs, thanks for the positive comments!

I was a little disappointed with my pics as I feel the bike looks much better in the flesh - the frame has a very sculpted look, especially the head tube and top tube, which doesn't show up too well.

Ride wise the only meaningful comparison I can make is with my 2007 aluminium focus and the bottecchia is better in every way - I was pleasantly surprised with how much better it is.

It's very stiff and easy to get up to speed but comfortable as well - I'm sure the very thin seat stays help with this.
It tracks well and is stable under speed - I coasted down a very lumpy/pot holded descent on sunday at 31mph+ and it was great, would have been a bit faster but my courage failed me on my new pride and joy!

The frame seems to be finished to a high quality, has BB30, full internal cable routing with guide tubes in the frame so no cable rattles and nice touches like an aluminium sleeve in the top of the seat post, and full carbon fork steerer.

I'd definitely recommend having a look at one.

  • After much deliberation I've upgraded the Fulcrum Racing 7s to Cero AR30's from Cycledivision.
Kinlin xr300 rims, sapim cx ray spokes, hubs??
Weight including rim tape 1420g, skewers 90g for the pair
Build quality seems very good, the service from Cycledivision was excellent
Added conti tubes and deda tre rs tyres

    weight now 8kg dead

They seem to spin very smoothly, I'll know more after I've had a decent test ride this weekend.

That is one beautiful bike. I know what you mean - bikes always look better in the flesh. There's a Raleigh SP Comp in my LBS; I don't particularly like the look of it in pictures, but when I see it in the LBS I love it.

    Road - Dolan Preffisio
    MTB - On-One Inbred

I have no idea what's going on here.

Bottecchia make great bikes, if anyone out there is thinking of getting one go for it, thats a lovely bike
Caveat - I buy and ride cheap, however, I reserve the right to advise on expensive kit that I have never actually used and possibly never will
  • New Deda Drittissimo carbon seat post and Prologo Zero Ti 1.4 saddle fitted -just need some good weather so I can put away the old Focus and bring out the Bottecchia!

You have moved the seat post clamp round since the previous post installation.

Was that intentional? I assume the slit in the frame is at the rear?
    Yellow is the new Black.
  • Yes Smidsy, the gap is in the rear of the seat tube - was advised by LBS to spin the clamp 180 degrees to get a more even grip as its a carbon post, also used some fibre grip.

Not sure I like the look of the clamp that way but I'm sure I'll soon not notice it.

In terms of looks, the new wheels are a massive improvement over the Fulcrums, as is the new seatpost.

I think you have got it spot on.
  • Fcuk-in awesome Bike/s Bottecchias. I own an upgraded Duello and its thee best all round bike Ive ever owned in 30 years of cycling. These bikes look 50% better in the flesh and I;d go as far to say the Emme 2 is thee best looking road bike fullstop. Awesome mate...enjoy her.

    Thanks for the comments guys.
The bike is how I would like it to be now, so no more tinkering until a part needs replacing due to wear.

Booked a week off work at the end of the month to get some miles in - cant wait.

Looking proper now with deep rims - slam that stem, cut off the excess and its a goer.
