Cannabis plants could help treat diabetes and obesity after scientists found that two compounds in the plants' leaves can increase the amount of energy the body burns.

In mice studies (I think they volunteered to be studied as opposed to conducting the studies), the THCV and cannabidiol compounds were shown to boost the animals’ metabolism, leading to drops in the amount of cholesterol in the blood and fat in key organs, such as the liver .

THCV was also found to increase the animals' sensitivity to insulin while also protecting the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas, allowing them to work more efficiently and for longer, which is significant for type 2 diabetics.

Any volunteers for the human trials, more cake anyone? :D 8)

I think unofficial human trials have been carried out for years ! Have you ever seen a fat pot smoker ?
Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.
Faith is the denial of observation so that Belief can be preserved

I can think of a few.
A little smoke, munchies & gaming does not lead to a slender frame.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

The increased risk of cancer means you can do a lance Armstrong and come back to cycling as a leaner GC contender?

Seems like a win-win to me... you can get high.. and as a bonus increase your performance in the short and long term!
