Anyone know the Montpellier area?

I'm planning a 7-10 day break in France next month and have the idea of flying in to Montpellier as the weather should be pretty great and there appears to be a hilly National Park to the North and West of the city.

Rather than listing my specific questions, I thought I would first ask if anyone here is familiar with the area?
