Hi
any thought's on this question. Should I buy factory made wheels or spend a bit more and have them custom made even if it's the same wheel. The reason I ask is the last set of factory made wheels I bought needed a bit of trueing to get right.
Thinking of possibly Hope Hoops, crests, but not sure about the noise or something from superstar any ideas or thought's
Thanks

Custom obviously. Factory wheels are just a pain in the arse, especially when they break.

Whether they need truing or not doesn't really have anything to do with whether they are a factory or custom build. From personal experience I'd tend to agree with styxd. It's a while since I used Mavics wheels, but I had trouble with sourcing replacements for proprietary parts that broke. With that said, I only have good things to say about the Fulcrum wheels I've had: good value, weight, and stength. I can't say I find Hopes that much louder than others either (I'm thinking Fulcrums and Mavic's ITS4 wheels), apart from Superstar hubs which are very quiet. Right now I have Hope and Superstar wheels and, out of the 2, I'd err towards Hope because the hubs feel better quality (especially the freehubs).
