Been practising these for a while now but, I am now stuck and can't seem to get any further,

I can easily get 2ft of the ground when rolling on the flat, but how do you get higher? is it a different technique or just more power?

2 feet high on a mtb sounds high to me. i can prob get roughly same height but to get higher i would need a bmx or lighter jump bike. most people cant get the back wheel off the ground so your doing ok i think

I can do about a foot tops lol. But then I only ride a DH bike so that doesn't help

should be another 6" there i think

practice bump jumping the bike into a curb, but get the bike as vert as possible before the bump jump

try that for a little while and go back to trying bunny hops

as a rule you can only get the rear wheel as high as the front was at lift off

so its a mix of front flick (letting the bike get as vert as possible) and a bit of pedal stamp to get it up there

my mate was trying to show me how to bunnyhop.. He got it a bit wrong and ended up going head over heels, ie front flip with the bike, this was after his front wheel was a good foot or so off the ground. Don't know how the hell he did it but god it was funny

I've no idea what height i can get, i'd wager about a foot though. I more try to see what distance i can bunny hop which is about the length of a cable tv street cover

Pracitcing on a curb is a bad idea, get it wrong and you risk at best a snake bite, at worst a new wheel.

I can bunny hop about the height and width of a TV cable. Which is handy if someone has left wire on the trail..

Hmm, I was planning on heading down there in the next few days, thanks for the heads up.

People doing that need to be caught and preferably wrapped in their own barbed wired, maybe they'd see the error of their ways then.

Didn't realise toy soldiers was one of your other hobbies..
  • I can't do bunny hops at all. That back wheel just doesn't want to leave the ground. I can get a bit of height of I bounce off a curb when rolling but that's it.

I love watching all the trick stuff but I have no skill at it so I prefer just XC stuff.

Tried to bunny hop a root today at Gisburn. Didnt go well when I landed on the next root and the front wheel went left and I went right. My right thumb is stiff and swollen will have to practise left handed winking for a week or so.

Winking with your left hand.....now that is a trick. Slight harder than writing!

    Damn auto complete!

Bunny hops- Never really been shown how to do them, any good hints?

Have a look on youtube there are a some instruction videos all for BMX but the technique is the same. Start your jumping on some grass though because you will fall off
