why is tdf extra not in HD

As topic, stage coverage is in lovely high def all day then TDF Extra comes on and it's in standard def, why is this?

    That's the one ES put together themselves, isn't it? I guess it's because they're doing their own editing etc rather than taking a nice feed from French television

    It's weird though isn't it? The source footage they use for TdF extra is all HD, and the Eurosport interviews and studio footage in the main programme are all HD. So why can't they do TdF extra in HD?

    It is weird and a bit disconcerting. Also, the pre-race time is taken up differently between the standard and HD Eurosport channels. I've taken to recording the non-HD version as it has more/better pre-stage chat.
