Spotted this last night. Looks sweet and seems like a bit of a bargain. I got the single ring version from these guys for my Snap build (see sig.) - doesn't come with BB - so you'll need to order that separately.

So they dont come with a BB and they're white. Sounds like the worst deal of the century.0

Well had a look around last night for a mate and couldn't find it cheaper anywhere else...so I'm not sure if your statement is wholly accurate"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

That makes it the cheapest you can find it, not a bargain. I'd far sooner have Deore or SLX HT2, but each to their own!0
-
but someone might already have a bb and be looking to downgrade their cranks, and be especially looking for white ones. in that case they're perfect
I have fixed that for you!0 -

Not sure you are making much sense - the SLX version of this crankset is more than twice the price of this one!
I have the SLX crankset on my Rockhopper and it's excellent (if a little heavy)
I was looking for a cheap robust set for a mate to make his 3x9 bike a bit more Alpine DH friendly for a good price
£35 for that crankset is a good price to me that says bargain. To you it obviously doesn't"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

...sorry in fact the SLX dual/bash is about 3 times the price! - with a BB thrown in for free"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

It's ok for the money, but I'd still get the Deore - can be had for less than £50. Add a bash, sell the spare rings.
Howitzer BBs aren't usually too hot, and weigh a ton, all in will be looking at about 1350g.0 -

This. As I (sort of) said.0 -

Valid points (and didn't know Howitzer BB's were poor - glad I put one on my Snap ) but by the time he's bought a bashguard and another ring (to replace either the 32 or 26 from the Deore) he's still gonna be looking at well over £100 initial outlay"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

£100? A ring and bash does not cost £55. And you might want to use the 32 anyway.0 -
OK. Any recommendations for a cheap, strong Bashguard then. And 22/36 is ideally what we're after. So will need one of those as well."Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

OK. Everything available from Bike-Discount. About €100 delivered - slightly more than the Hussefelt DH with a Howitzer BB but I guess you say you're getting a better and lighter crankset.

Just gotta shop around ;-). The Hussefelt is a good deal, but sometimes a bit of sideways thinking can reap rewards.0

What about getting the trekking Deore setup 48/36/26?
http://www.rosebikes.co.uk/article/shim ... aid:368092
Sell the 48 buy a bash as above, gives you your 36/26. Close enough to 22 for the granny?0 -
22 or 24 max where we are. We're riding up some pretty long, steep trails. I've got 22/34 as my lowest gear but a 24/36 would obviously work too. 26t granny...meh.
Also - 'Trekking' doesn't sound like it'll be up to much Alpine DH abuse"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

Yeah, sorry missed the small ring requirements.
I was under the impression it's the same cranks/bb as the previously linked Deore. The ratios and the trouser guard making it 'Trekking'.
FWIW I've been running the exact same Hussefelts on my Enduro for approx 500 miles so far, they've been solid, though I'm considering the Deore with bash conversion to save some weight.0 -
Cheers - good to know re Hussefelt. Like I say the 2.2 was for a mate but I've got the 1.1 on my fun bike"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes
