Folks,
I have acquired some Aksiums as winter/turbo wheels but need to fit a 6500 9 speed cassette. Apparently I need a Mavic spacer but cannot find anywhere obvious to buy one (lot's of forum posts saying they come with the wheels...but not mine). Anyone purchased one of them there spacers??

You can buy the spacer for £1.99 with free PnP from CRC and you'll probably get a couple of gels thrown in gratis.0

Thanks for that Bozman but looking at the blurb that spacer is to use a 10 speed cassette whereas I want to fit a 9 speed cassette. I have done quite a bit of looking around, even on the Mavic site and Mr Google, but I cannot find the spacer for 9 speed (the wheels are about 1 year old) and am beginning to wonder if I have the wrong end of the stick in that 9 speed doesn't actually need a spacer whereas the narrower 10 does...?0 -
Hi, there is a spacer on mine, 9sp cassette / Aksiums. Looks pretty much like that one on CRC, might be worth giving it a go for £1.99 ?He is not the messiah, he is a very naughty boy !!0

IIRC the mavic spacer is needed for both 9 and 10 speed shimano cassettes on the aksiums, with 10 speed cassette users also requiring the shimano 10speed spacer as well. The mavic freehub is designed to take a mavic cassette which doesn't require the spacer.0

Thanks chaps. I have found a mavic tech doc which clarifies the position and does indeed state that I need the M40417 spacer.0
