Actually very good bikes, they just dont seem to get a lot of press over here, but they are big in America, where they come from.
A friend of a friend is a bike mechanic, has worked for several bike shops and seen the lot and often what you hear/read about the well known brands doesnt always hold up in the real world (i wont tell you his nikcname for Cannondale!) but he rates the FElt highly, says they are well built, easy to work on and the frames are solid. Ive also read some reviews on the AR series and they all did well.
Also, its a good looking machine, a mate of mine recently bought a Felt mountain bike, and its a superb bit of kit for the money and he only spent £750 on it. So if you really want one then go for it, you wont be dissapointed and dont worry about the rarity of them, that will only make you stand out more.
They are really, well sorted and good road bikes.

Felt AR5? Bit too close to Felt AR$E for my liking.

it was how it looked that got my attention! if I'm going to spend near enough £2000 i want it to look it lol. have you any idea how they ride compared to other road bikes? as in they are kind of a half way between roan and tt from what i have read so i assume they go better on flat but not quite as good on the climb(I'm poor at climbing as it is 6'3" an all that come with it!) thats actually the main thing that worries me.

Riding a bike called an AR5 will be a big hit on the club run. You just need a good sense of humour.
Similarly has anyone bought those Italian shorts off Planet X - Pissei ?
I don't really want to have some Pissei Pants - no matter how well they perform. :-)

The Felt rides very well, though its a stiff bike frame but if you are 6ft 3 then its ideal for you. All reviews and first hand experience of it is that its very fast, and a lot of people who have one say its taken time off their best times by a few seconds. As for hills, the bike will be fine, bodyweight is more the deciding factor for hills, if youre built like a brick shithouse a few grams saved on bike weight wont make much difference :D
  • I too am looking at one as an upgrade, Wiggle have them on sale at the moment with 35% off
