Hi Guys

Currently looking for upgrade of my Specialized Alliez 16, which will become winter bike.

Im up to long hilly rides with more than 3000ft elevation for a ride (I ride in yorkshire), not looking for competition of any sort, however performance and efficiency is also important.

WILIER Izoard XP Ultegra with Fulcrum R5 (for 1.7 grand) looks good choice for me. Am I missing anything?

Thanks

Wilier make lovely lovely bikes...but then so do quite a few others as well. I think there should be a law that they only come with Campag though, not that I mind the other options....just not on Italian bikes (made in Taiwan, etc. ).

I did find that the Mortirolo was sized slightly smaller than other brands/models so it could be well worth taking your time with the sizing...and have a look at other things like the Cube Agree, Focus Izalco, Boardman Team, etc., etc. The C+ bike of the year competition covered loads of bikes in this price bracket but, like all 3rd party reviews, one takes their subjective comments with a pinch of salt (it still amazes me how year after year they print things like "this bike climbs really well").

Now, how many bikes do you need...count bikes, add one, et voila!

Great frame, it's fun to ride and it looks fantastic in the flesh. I love my Izoard.

Same for me. Something about that Italian style but surely it should have campagnolo groupset. :D Consider looking at a used one - you could save a lot and upgrade some other components.

The Izoard is one of those bikes where you won't be looking at other bikes in the manufacturers line up and wishing you could afford an upgrade, it's a great bike in it's own right. I always think they look even better in the flesh.

Thank you for responces, sorry for silence, been out for few days.

Im afraid to buy from ebay, since carbon is delicate material, and you never know what happend to this bike, even its short miler.

Scott is nice for this price, however It looks like the frame should be really stiff, which is really good for racing bike, ..and nice smooth roads. Im riding coutry roads in yorkshire, roads here are not the best, so long rides would be not great, especially for enjoyement.

I like Izoard, how it looks, unfortunatelly being ultergra chainset, its still havent got ultegra brakes, which is best in mountains accourding by some reviews. Also, GradTourismo, should be more balanced in terms of performance stiffness. What I think is test rides are required, so see difference, dont know how ist possible to test these bikes before buy.

Also, I have lowend spec alles, which is really good rolling, it eats miles and good climber, so I really dont know if buying expencive carbon willl do any difference. Test rides will show.

    Regards
    Oc

good grief man, go to a Wilier dealer and try one out, it's the only way you'll know. The GT has a very laid back geometry so might not suit you. Again, try one out ....
