Where I live is out in the country side and usually when I go out for a ride I get to see some cool wildlife.
Tonight I saw a barn owl just flying a few feet above a field along side me.
It's also nice to be out in the fresh air.
I'm sure there has probably been 100's of threads like this, but why do you love being on your bike.

It gets me out of the mad house for a few hours!0

I love it for all sorts of rich and complex reasons that I can never quite get to the bottom of. I am a professional writer and photographer and for the last eight months I've been writing cycling essays and photo features (as a sideline) for my own website, posting almost daily, and in all that time, and all that writing and photography, I have barely scratched the surface in understanding why I love cycling so much.0

You beat all the cars, vans, wagons & buses out of the city (and lets face it who does not like riding straight to the front of a line of traffic) half an hours riding later you have either amazing coast or countryside to enjoy depending which way you turned. Us Geordies are blessed with locationDrop bars n beat's0

I'm not much of a wordsmith.
But I just love getting out and about, on the open road, taking in the coastal air, and beautiful views.
Or sometimes just being alone with my thought's after a long day, night cycling is tremendous.
Though I can't really put my finger on exactly why I love it so much. Not to be cryptic, but it just appeals to me!Forme Hiver0 -
Just so therapeutic in so many ways. Being out in the country, fresh air, able to be alone with my thoughts and out of the rat race. I just love to master the hills and negotiate the fast downhill bits. Such a great feeling to be powering along, nice and smooth at about 15mph just turning over the pedals and enjoying life. Petrol saving and being fit are factors but not why I like it. A former roadrunner but this is so much more enjoyable0

I love riding my bike in this weather because I can get a nice refreshing shower at the same time! I might smear myself in shower gel before I go out tomorrow and get the job done properly.0

Three things I rediscovered just from today...
1. The joy of riding your winter bike in terrible weather, knowing that it can withstand anything you put it through.
2. Riding without a speedo you take in much more of your surroundings
3. Making it home in the rain without getting a puncture0
