OK. Two sets of brakes at more or less the same price;
New (2013) Shimano SLX M675
or
2010 (?) Formula Mega-K
If I get the SLX they will go on the Rockhopper freeing up my current ('06) Deore's for the Snap build (see sig.) - Head
If I get the Formula's I guess I'll whack 'em straight on the Snap build for a bit of bling. - Heart

Very recent review for SLX brakes. I like them but prefer my Avid X0 brakesTransition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Formula."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

ha! Well that hasn't made it any easier. I think the Rockhopper deserves some Servo Wave action but to hang those 6 or 7 year old Deore's off the Snap just seems wrong :?"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

Think I have to go with 'head'
The 'hopper (which will get ridden probably 60% of the time) gets a very decent upgrade in the SLX and the Snap (which will be ridden probably 10% of the time) gets some perfectly good stoppers in the Deore's...

is the Snap for dirt jumping and park style stuff?
wouldn't think you need great brakes for that kinda stuff (Don't a lot of BMX and Jump bikes only have 1 brake? ). As long as the old brakes are functional stick them on your Snap frame.
The extra performance from either of your newer choices will be better off on your normal everyday bike.0 -
Exactly. Stop being a tart and do the sensible thing..."Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes

If your not trail riding and just ragging park and bmx tracks, rear brake with a 180 rotor should be fine.
Oh and shimano....0 -
That's crazy - Nick's even removing the "EDIT:" button from my posts, so I can;t change it back0
