i thought by trawling the inter net that this north shore stuff was the riding on road like things made of plancks but i went on a trail saying that it was a north shore trail and it was like an old foot path that had been left and some sticks thrown on it.

cheers all,
paul

It's a style of trail building popularised on the North Shore of Vancouver, Canada. And it basically looks like this picture Cooldad posted.
Of course there's varying degrees of insanity to the trails, but I believe the original principle was to build these wooden "ladders" ofer ground that was otherwise impassable.

Sadly, lots of people call anything that has a wooden component to it's construction "north-shore". Just like plenty of people call any descent, a "DH trail"

I would rather ride my first pic TBH. The other one would scare the sh1t out of me.
There is a little wooden bridge on one of my regular rides I call north shore to sound heroic, and I once rode a see saw but fell off.

well first one looks wet so you might slip and cum a cropper...

I'd love to have a go on the second. (actually meaning, in my mind i'd love to have a go, but i'd actually just stand there and go "faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrkkkkkkkkkkkkk") :)
