Tyre slits

Checked my tyres this morning and there are lots of little slits in them, especially the rear. I couldn't see any bits of glass or stone in the slits, but are the causes likely to be working their way in and about to cause a nasty surprise?

Guess the only way is to get them off this weekend and check whether the inside looks OK... just paranoid because I'm not carrying puncture kit at the moment!

Noob question, clearly.

Super glue gel in the slits and Park Tools patches for when you get a puncture.

One on the inside of the tyre and one on the tube.
I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.

Clearly I'd pushed my luck too far. :(

This little b#gger got stuck in my tyre last night and instantly deflated it at 45kph... luckily only 2km from home.

Just as well I was coming home to a nice parcel from Wiggle with two new tyres in :D

    Unlucky!

My hybrid tyres are looking a bit chewed up so may end up in the same situation fairly soon. I've never patched up the inside of the tyre before so that's an interesting idea.

I've read that you can get some sort of tape to go on the inside of your tyre as some sort of puncture protection. So going to do some research on that, otherwise it's new tyres for me too!
