Sram & Shimano Front mech

Hi there, I had Sram on my HT & Shimano on my FS but swapped everything over recently so I can put the sram on my FS and use the Avid matchmakers to make everything nice and tidy 8)
I kept the front mechs on the original bike as I had read in the FAQs that front mechs are ok to mix and match and I cant swap the front mechs over either due to the FS frame needing a high clamp mech
My X7 shifter works my Shimano Mech perfectly but the Shimano LX shifter doesn't want to play ball with the X7 mech. It overshifts the mech by miles everytime.
Im i being a donut setting this up or have I found a combo that breaks the rules of 'Front Mechs are ok to mix & match'?

sounds like the cable has not been attached to the mech correctly.
it will work fine."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

Ok, i'll have a tinker about tonight. How do you mean about the cable Nicklouse?
When I did fit it and the mech was up on the big ring (after clicking twice on the shifter), 1 click down would bring the mech all the way down to the granny ring with an almighty thunk and the shifter would also go back to the beginning. Does that still sound like a cable issue?0 -
Read how to set up a front mech on Parktools.
it now sounds just like you have done it wrong."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
