Cairo.
Doesn't matter how many lanes there are officially, if there's room for another car.... It's a lane. So three lanes become four or five, one lane can easily become two etc etc. if the smoke belching trucks don't scare you, the constant honking of horns will. If you survive for a week, youll have irreparably damaged your ears, assuming your lungs held out that long.
I got a mother of a headache just being a passenger in a taxi there, let alone driving, let alone riding a bike.0 -
Salford is pretty bad - some of the locals are right nutters, there are some pretty big arterial routes through it that have no cycling provision so it's a nightmare to ride either along them or intersect them, and there is no greenery or respite.. bleurgh"I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, how good is that"

Indian / Nepalese / Pakistani Hindu road users seem to rely rather heavily upon the after life being a place of re-birth and a new begining so drive with not a care in the world.
Down-town Cairo.
Rio.
Bangkok in the rush hour (all 12hrs+ a day of it )
Manila. If the Jeepney fumes don't get you first.
The nullabor plain. Just ask Mike Hall.
Mate, Kudos to you for even trying to cycle in those places!--

Never had an issue cycling anywhere over here in my 20 years of cycling. I'd certainly say there are a lot of idiots on the road, but sure you get them everywhere.0 -

You're kidding right?? Quiet winding country lanes with fantastic scenery, it's a great place for cycling.~~~~~~Sustrans - Join the Movement~~~~~~0 -
Hired (very crappy) bikes for an afternoon in Nhatrang, Vietnam .The abiding memory is of SWMBO losing her nerve on the middle of a roundabout, rapidly being engulfed by a sea of bikes and mopeds and taking over 10 minutes to rejoin the traffic. :oops:0

I spent a bit of time along the Cameroon-Nigeria border and there were these guys on old beat-up French porteur bikes carrying anything up to 100 litres in smuggled kerosene along these really rough tracks through the mountains, dodging customs officials and police every inch of the way. Not a ride I envied.0
