Planning to replace my wobbly bottom bracket (BB-ES25 Octalink 73/118mm) with one of these,

Just want to make sure that it will be compatible with what I have at the moment and that I will be able to re-use my cranks?

it will be fine."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

ES51 is a fine replacement for ES25. You might want to re-use the plastic non-driveside cup from your ES25 - the metal cups I've had with ES51s are fractionally longer and don't fit flush with the outer edge of the BB shell on my bike. Functionally it makes no difference.
Use a little grease on the inside of the cup where it tapers against the BB to prevent it creaking and ensure that you torque it to 60 Nm which is...tight.0 -
Thanks for the replies. just noticed that it says "can only be used with a 2003/04 Shimano FC-M 572 LX crankset!" on the page I linked above. My cranks/chainset is M442 Octalink, will this still work with my cranks?I've got Soul.0

My Rize came with M521 Octalink I cranks and they worked perfectly with an ES51. The ES51 BB is LX-spec rather than LX-only the ES71 is XT-spec and even better if you can find one.
There's a doc on Shimano's website http://techdocs.shimano.com/techdocs/index.jsp that describes the ES25/30/51/71 they are all interchangeable.
Chain Reaction sometimes have ES51s for £15 although not today http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... odelID=9080 -
Last check before I splash the cash, are these the special tools I need to remove the bottom bracket and any one of the crank pullers?
