budget mountain biking abroad?
I've been looking online for a cheap holiday for me and a mate for this august/september - maybe 4 days or so..... Any ideas guys??? Cash is very tight and everything seems to be out of my price bracket I've been mountain biing for a few years now and have yet to get off british soil. Preferably to include bike hire as I'm thinking that may be cheaper than taking my own bike?
any pointers would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

What exactly is your budget?? i'm doing a week in les gets including taking our own bikes for about £400, if you want to slum it in a tent i'm sure you could get cheaper. Probably best of you go with a group, perhaps try some of the less mainstream destinations such as the pyrenees, they might be cheaper?0

Hi mate, my budget is sub 400, preferably closer to 300 but I guess I'm dreaming expecting 4 days mountain biking with plenty of singletrack for that price!
Yeah, I've heard maybe staying away from the 'main' destinations and going somewhere like - Les Arcs, or Valloire might be worth considering.0 -

If you could stretch your budget and time a bit, I've got a fortnight from 11-25th august with travel and accommodation for £305 staying in morzine. Liftpass for that time is another £115 then there's food and drink, but it's easily do-able for sub-£500.Check out my site - http://www.trail-dog.co.uk
It's good for you.0 -
does it have to be the alps? you could try malaga or somewhere like that? just get a cheap package holiday and take the bikes. there's some good riding apparently over there0

Try somewhere closer to home?
Scotland or Wales?
Or see if it is cheaper to get the high speed train to the French Alps, that could be cheaper?0 -
Thanks for the feedback guys, i'll take it all on board. Also, thanks for the offer UH DH, but I couldnt wangle that much time from work unfortunetly.0

Where we are in Bansko, Bulgaria is pretty low cost. B&B accom is £20 a night, Muddy Fox HT bikes are £12 a day and it's not raining, so for 4 or 5 nights it shouldn't break the bank.0
