Just seen something on another thread about confusing cycle lane signs that made me think of this.

Here we have start of shared bus and cycle lane
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Watford&hl=en&ll=51.663705,-0.397718&spn=0.000013,0.008283&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=6.087731,16.962891&oq=watford&hnear=Watford,+Hertfordshire,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=17&layer=c&cbll=51.663695,-0.397628&panoid=YGVkvEJLXa10a5eQoTZOeg&cbp=12,319.07,,0,7.73

and then you can either scroll forward slightly on the line above or click here
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Watford&hl=en&ll=51.663745,-0.397986&spn=0.000013,0.008283&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=6.087731,16.962891&oq=watford&hnear=Watford,+Hertfordshire,+United+Kingdom&t=m&z=17&layer=c&cbll=51.663732,-0.397891&panoid=B-Bqs4EZC50SbXhvF2Lz9A&cbp=12,319.69,,1,7.69

It apparently the end of the cyclelane even though it clearly isn't.

I think it mean if you nip tyhrough the gap as a cyclist and turn right down past the pub 9whichthe cars aren't allowed to do) you have left the cycle lane - but thats is clearly obvious.

I've had bus drivers berating me for still being in the cycle lane past this point, even though the lights at the top are on red and i'm not in anyway holding up their overall progress.

{the bus lane is there in the first place to help buses coming out of the depot skip the queueing traffic in front ofthe railway station to get upto the main raod quicker.

I thought bus lanes were red - very strange. I think it's to make the point that you've left a cycle lane and entered a bus lane - but the signing is certainly ambiguous at best.

But if cycles really can't use the bus lane beyond that point - where the heck are they supposed to go to? Vanish into thin air or cut across the 2 lanes of traffic to their left?

    On a similar note.
Love this forward thinking bit of trafic planing in Derby city centre, bikes go one direction, motor trafic the other.
It's going to be great on a dark wet November evening at rush hour!

If it's dark I could probably find you the number to report faulty streetlights...

OMG how flipping dangerous is that. There are some "against the traffic" cycle lanes in London, but all the ones i've seen/ used are protected by a raised kerb and in a straight line- that one is lethal as demonstrated by your photo.

I read somewhere that parts of London now allow you to ride the wrong way up one-way streets. Sounds utterly ludicrous to me.
