Sadly passed away today. I thought he was a genuinely funny man, had a good innings though!
God bless him.

Another old classic. Had some great characters, some crap ones too! (What was that series with Hattie Jakes - that was bad, was it called "Sykes"?)Remember that you are an Englishman and thus have won first prize in the lottery of life.0

I saw him partner John Spencer in a pro celebrity snooker match against Ray Reardon and Peter Aliss during a time filler at the Benson & Hedges Masters in the seventies. He was hilarious and brought the house down, a very funny man.0

Very sad day. Still have a copy of the plank with him in it.I ride a bike. Doesn't make me green or a tree hugger. I drive a car too.0

A great fellow. As Ken Dodd rightly pointed out on the tv last night, he was wholly without malice. He never resorted to the prop of nearly all modern comedians of sneering; smirking; mocking; offensive language; nastiness and humour absent of humanity.

As with the late Ronnie Barker, Sykes was also a prolific comic scriptwriter as well as performer. Definitely a sad loss for the world of comedy.
