Might it be so that Froome can do early work in the RR and then drop out, whereas Millar can bury himself later in the race and do one of his massive turns for the sake of Cav. That way it then gives Froome more recovery before the TT.0

His lifetime Olympic ban has been proven to be unworkable and unlawful. Those are the facts.
He is simply the best man for the team, super domestique, friend, training partner to Cavendish. There is no younger rider with better capabilities. If you want to win a medal, you pick your best team. Millar has shown more than his worth (thinking of the Worlds here)
There have been plenty of arguments as to why Millar shouldn't be riding, none of them seem to carry much weight beyond personal opinion.
I believe that the lifetime Olympic ban should never have been lifted - it's one event every four years. Sadly laws have been put in place preventing this ban.
Yes, it is personal opinion but based on morals - something the country, to it's detriment, has lost.
Please explain why it is morally wrong? What have morals got to do with competitive sport?
You must live in a hard world where people are never forgiven for doing wrong and are not allowed to redeem themselves for it. Unlike chambers, Miller will be a support player with no chance of winning a medal or glory. He will be burying himself to help a fellow team-mate and cyclist to win the medal and glory. What greater sacrifice would you like from the man? Isn't this actually the greatest way to repent for past misdemeanour's? By giving forth such a selfless act?
If you want morals in sport then there you go that's a perfect moral high ground to take.
Also why should Cav have to suffer and lose your support in his bid for gold? He doesn't deserve that. He doesn't decide who his team mates are. What do you want him to do? Refuse to ride alongside Miller? After all the hard work he's put into his preperation? If you honestly think he should then your a moron and need to get yourself back into the real world.Bianchi. This is all fine until Dave makes a break for it and wins - then there will be an uproar.
Unlikely I know, but crazy things can happen.I'm left handed, if that matters.0 -
Strange goings on with the French team. They've named a track sprinter (Bourgain) with no road experience in their road race team. They've done this to exploit a loophole in the rules that will allow him to also be part of the team sprint squad, boosting it from three to four. I'm not sure what the roads think of this. The Germans have done a similar thing and named a track sprinter in their MTB team.Twitter: @RichN950

Now that's clever and probably the reason why both France and Germany have a car industry and we don't.0 -

Bourgain to successfully sit in the bunch 9 times over Box and then outsprint Cav Do the riders in question have to at least start the road / MTB events for which they have been selected?0

So four of these are riding the Tour and they have each one a stage! Impressive.

I think a team put together by an order of court or arbitration is doomed to failure before it turns a wheel. Obviously a lack of detail in that article as to why Brammeier was left out but for the sake of team harmony he should take it on the chin.
Not a bad three man team really. I assume McCann will be TT'ing as well?0 -

I really like Dwain Chambers. I think he's been to hell and back over this PED issue. He's shown an immense amount of courage to keep going in the face of some very adverse and unpleasant conditions. I'm sure if he could change things he would never have made the mistake in the first place. He's done his time and can legally compete. Good. He made a mistake as a young man, who hasn't. He won't win a medal but he's still the best sprinter we've got.0 -

Unlikely I know, but crazy things can happen. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0
