Upgrading forks on a 2010 Specialised Rockhopper

Dear all

I'm a new convert to Mountain Biking and I have a question about upgrading the forks on my bike.

I have a 2010 17" Specialised Rockhopper Comp which came fitted with 80mm Rockshox Tora Forks. I've mostly done some cross-country riding so far, but as I'm hoping to get to Glentress later in the summer, I'm wondering if I should upgrade my forks.

I've seen a set of 100mm Rockshox Rebas at a good price and I'm tempted to upgrade. However I contacted Specialized's customer services and they advised me that any suspension upgrade should not have any more than 10% travel than the original forks. As this would mean that I could not fit the Rebas, does anyone know if you can limit the amount of travel on the fork to 80mm?

I apologise in advance if I'm asking a daft question, but I don't to fit the Rebas and then discover that something breaks!

  • They used to come with 100mm Reba - I have a 2007 Pro.
Check the specialised web site but I'm certain the frame has not changed.

the frame has changed, they come with both 80mm or 100mm depending on frame size, 100mm should be fine for you
