Hi all

this is my first post here so please be gentle on me,,

i started riding on the roads a few weeks ago and am loving it,, usually just go on trails with my kids and have now made the jump to the roads..

i managed to get a cheap second hand btwin bike to get me going,

but bought a new ride today..i picked up a cyclecross bike made by Pinarello .

its a special edition model im told, made for British Cycling , called a fcx1.

Does anyone know any more about these bikes and wether they are well kitted out???

like i say im new to this game and am a little unsure

c343ee71.jpg

cant wait to get out on the roads on it,,

being a heavy rider i was happy to splash out on the stronger made cyclocross bike

and am going to change the tyres to thinner slicks

what do you guys think of these bikes ????

trust me !!!!!! they are not !!!!!!

this is a link to the Pinarello site to a picture of a Pina bike if they were different companies why are they both on the Pinarello site ???

  • well for starters that FCX looks nothing like your bike, secondly Pinarello are frequently copied/faked as they are seen as a premium brand, thirdly and please don't take this wrong, your bike just doesn't look like something that Pinarello would put their name to.

Fake Pinarello with a British cycling connection

    http://www.cyclechat.net/threads/fake-p ... ree.93573/

I can't see anything on British cycling about these, wasn't aware they sold bikes?

the link is to a FCX not a FCX1 so it wont look the same,, the point of the link was to show Pinarello sell bike labelled as Pina!!!!!!!!!!

if my bike is a fake the people went to massive massive lengths to fake it

i know this is genuine as i unwrapped it today !!!!! i still have the box and packageing it came in.

im not trying to sell this or prove its genuine im confident it is i wanted to get advice on it really on wether it was well spec'd

being a road bike im not sure of the names..

i know these are not a known bike but i know its genuine from where i bought it from .. it was not from a pub car park !!!

  • ok tell us about the spec, shifters look like Shimano 2300? what are the wheels etc. Decent quality road bike with 2300 (eg Specialized Allez) would be £500 to £600 depending on the time of year.

more than happy to do that fella

shimano hubs ,, i can see from the off

    shimano sora shirters and derailers

,, hang on it may be easier to get a look at the bike,, what else should i look at ???

  • sounds reasonable spec so far, what are the rims, tyres, brakes, saddle etc. Some stuff might not be identifiable. Sora is one groupset up from 2300 and sits below Tiagra. Is it 9 or 10 speed? What did it cost?
Also if you enjoy it, that's what matters.

please let me know your thoughts

Don't know anything about your bike but it certainly doesn't look fake to me from your commentary and pics. Pinarello have a relationship with British Cycling and TeamSky as the supplier for the bikes. I wouldn't be suprised as British Cycling promote cycling they have done a deal with Pinarello to supply some good value bikes to help people get into cycling. Lots of companies rebrand when they are offering both upmarket and downmarket product ranges. Look at Toyota and Lexus as one example.

Seems to be decent enough spec and if you paid less than £700 then it's on the money from what I can see. Under £500 and it's great value.

As long as your enjoying it then that's what matters. :D

British Cycling Go-Ride coaches have about 800 bikes - Pinarello (Pina) for use with school groups and others, as an introduction to cycling amongst other things. This looks like one of these.

    whats the difference ?????

    tyres are a massive change

brakes are much bigger clearance but no worse in performance !!!!!!!!!!!

riding position is more comfortable, so lesss performance, in a casual rider so thats not an issue,, i am totally impressed with the bike to be honest..

i now have a Pinarello bike with slick tyes
    more relaxed riding position
different brakes,, but i dont care
and i still have change from £500!!!!!!!

    i am a winner

and still have the flexibility to do trails with my children on my main ride..

    anyone want to buy a B twin 1 sport for £140 ??????

    need to make room lol

He said he had change from £500 with the new tyres so probably something over £450. Seems a decent deal to me.

I know how much British Cycling are letting our club have these for, sadly they are all too big for me, but it's a very good price!

    Hello,

Just like to say that these bikes are not fake, British Cycling had a rare opportunity where they were able to sell them off at a very generous price to loyal British Cycling members who keep the sport going.

The reason there are stories of the bike being 'fake' is because these cannot be picked up from any supplier for retail stock, they are purely manufactured for BC & tutoring.

Enjoy your new ride. They work well as good winter bikes too ;)

thanks for backing up the credability of these excellent rides.. made a couple of changes already and really loving the bike,,
Actually getting myself fitter and enjoying it...

do prefer the bike on 23 tyres,, but will be a lot happier when the cantilever brakes bed in !!!
