Looks like a real nice bike and I was considering keeping an eye out for the sora version used and ripping off the groupset and putting on my 105 one. How does a synapse compare to a specialised secteur for bum in the saddle big milage rides ? Would comfort levels for the synapse be comparable with a secteur or roubaix ?

My guess is that you will be very fortunate to get many people who have ridden all three for long enough to give you considered responses.

Best thing is to get a test ride on as many as you can and take it from there.

The Synapse is a very competent machine and has been used by the pro's for various races over the CAAD 10 where greater comfort was required if that is any help - probably not.

    ditto :)
  • Another thumbs up for the Synapse. Have been riding my Alu 2011 105 for almost a year and it's a fantastic piece of kit imo. Really comfortable over long distances (have done King of the Downs and Dunwich Dynamo on mine in the last month or so, with no comfort issues), especially with your preferred saddle and a carbon seatpost fitted.

I'm about to upgrade, but the Synapse will be my go-to bike for winter. Mounts & long reach brakes to facilitate proper guards, you see.

Yip, another happy synapse owner.. as above, with preffered saddle and carbon post i have no troubles with big distances. Cant compare it to either of the spesh models you mentioned though..

...And another very HAPPY owner of a 105 Synapse.... Really is a comfortable bike, have guards fitted and soaks up road buzz very well compared to an Allez 07 that I still have. Like riding this bike so much that I've yet to get my FP3 out this year..mainly because weather's been sh1t but the bike is so comfy!

I'm still waiting for my CTW voucher so I can collect mine. :(
My reasons for getting one were for the comfort reasons given above so looking forward to trying it out.

Which guards did you fit Padgie as I'll be looking to get some for Winter use (though the way the rain is at the moment they may be required all year round)
